Picture this: it’s 9:58 AM, and you’re about to step into a high-stakes meeting. Your mind is buzzing with outcomes — “Will they agree? What if I fail? How do I prove myself?” Stress builds before a word is spoken.
This is not so different from Arjuna at Kurukṣetra: standing before a battlefield, overwhelmed by what might unfold. Krishna’s wisdom to him is still medicine for us today. Here are three ways to carry it into your next meeting.
🌱 Lesson 1: Clarity Over Confusion
Krishna tells Arjuna: “Your grief arises from ignorance.” In our world, confusion looks like overthinking: imagining worst-case scenarios, spinning stories of judgment or failure.
🧘 Before your meeting:
- Close your eyes for 30 seconds.
- Breathe in slowly, breathe out longer.
- Remind yourself: “The facts are simple. The rest is story.”
When you enter with clarity, you act from calm rather than panic.
⚖️ Lesson 2: Action Without Attachment
Stress feeds on outcomes. We obsess: “Will they approve? Will I win? Will I lose?” Krishna’s teaching: “You have control over your actions, not over their fruits.”
💡 Before your meeting:
- Replace “I must win” with “I will contribute.”
- Focus on what you can control: your preparation, your presence, your delivery.
The paradox: the less you cling to results, the more compelling your presence becomes.
🕉️ Lesson 3: Anchor in Yoga
Krishna urges Arjuna: “Yogasthaḥ kuru karmāṇi” — act from union, from steadiness. Stress scatters. Yoga centers.
🔔 Before your meeting:
- Sit upright, feet grounded.
- Place one hand on your belly.
- Inhale with “So,” exhale with “Ham” — silently repeating “So’ham” or “I am That.”
This mini-mantra anchors you in being, not in fear. You walk in with inner steadiness, no matter the outer storm.
🌌 Closing Reflection
Meetings, like battles, are not about annihilation. They are about clarity, contribution, and presence.
Carry these three lessons into your next one: clarity over confusion, action over outcome, steadiness over stress. Suddenly, the boardroom becomes your chariot, and you the calm warrior who leads from within.
